Every day we wake up without pain is a reason to celebrate.
In my work I meet many people who look like they are just fine! Nobody would suspect they are hurting, nobody would think they were "limited" in their daily activities.
But they are hurting, they are limited, and I am grateful that I am working in a field that often lets me help with that pain. And sometimes "we" (I include the client, because it's always a team effort!) can move past the pain together.
So this Thanksgiving I recommend that we practice gratitude. It's a hard thing to do sometimes, when the pain is bad, but that's why I use the word "practice". Gratitude is like any other change in our lives - we need to conciously practice that perspective on a daily basis if we want it to make it a natural part of our life view. We need to bring it to our awareness often enough that we recognize it as "the way things are". No need to create it - just discover it. It is worth it for it's own sake. Be Grateful, give Thanks!
On another note, this Saturday we offer a practical way to express and embody that gratitude. November 24th is Small Business Saturday. I am hoping to see friends and neighbors shopping in Millbrook, supporting all of our local small businesses. Between Black Friday and Cyber Monday is a day that is dedicated to supporting small businesses nationwide. Last year, more than one hundred million people* came together to Shop Small® in their local communities.
Walking Tall Fitness will be offering a 10% discount on all Packages purchased in-store on Saturday. Celebrate the holidays with a committment to your health, to your quality of life and to a daily practice of gratitude.
And thanks to all my friends and clients for making my first year at Walking Tall Fitness such a great experience!
